Genetic variation occurs mainly through DNA mutation, gene flow (movement of genes from one population to another) and sexual reproduction. Since environments are unstable, populations that are genetically variable will be able to adapt to changing situations better than those that do not contain genetic variations.

Darwin’s Theory of Evolution by Natural Selection. Darwin spent many years thinking about the work of Lamarck, Lyell, and Malthus, what he had seen on his voyage, and artificial selection. As a result, many weaker organisms emerged in nature. Darwin does not discuss any information about this in the theory of evolution. Darwin did not realize the importance of mutations. He simply ignores mutations as a game of nature. Variation is more important than natural selection.

As environments change, selective pressures shift and favor different adaptations. Without variation, there would be no evolution by natural selection in any species. Genetic variation refers to differences in genes that result in slightly different traits in individuals. This To summarise Darwin's Theory of Evolution; 1. Variation: There is Variation in Every Population. 2. Competition: Organisms Compete for limited resources.

Variation Theory purely in theoretical terms, but rather attempts to explain Variation Theory through the use of actual classroom examples, which are carefully chosen to illustrate how different elements of the theory can be applied. All learning theories aim to explain learning, and all useful learning theories

A scientific theory gives explanations and predictions for naturally occurring phenomena based on observations and experimentations. This type of theory attempts to explain how events seen in the natural world work.

Darwin's Theory of Evolution is a slow gradual process. Darwin wrote, "…Natural selection acts only by taking advantage of slight successive variations; she can never take a great and sudden leap, but must advance by short and sure, though slow steps."

Now, the most accepted theory of evolution is 'Modern synthetic theory', in which the origin of species is made on the interaction of genetic variation and natural selection. Lamarckism: It is also called “Theory of inheritance of acquired characters” and was proposed by a … That all morphological variation is neutral. That ALL genetic variation is neutral. That natural selection is unimportant in shaping genomes. Most importantly, the neutral theory is NOT an alternative to the theory of evolution; it is simply an elaboration of a small part of evolutionary theory. On the basis of above observations, Hugo de Vries (1901) put forward a theory of evolution, called mutation theory. The theory states that evolution is a jerky process where new varieties and species are formed by mutations (discontinuous variations) that function as raw material of evolution.

Se hela listan på pubs.rsc.org Effect of variation on evolution: In the modern synthetic theory for evolution, ‘variation’ has been accepted as one of the prime causes of evolution. In natural selection, variation plays a major role. Variations may be beneficial, harmful and neutral.

The causes of variation are mainly responsible for evolution. As described earlier, evolution is the theory of how living things (organisms) change over time. Many theories have been put forward to explain how evolution happens, beginning from 500BC up to the most recent and supported theory of evolution explained earlier (under “What is Evolution”).
